QUALCOMM SHIPS CSM2000 CHIP

SAN DIEGO-Qualcomm Inc. announced it has begun production shipments of its CSM2000 Cell
Site Modem chip for Code Division Multiple Access infrastructure and test equipment.

The CSM2000 is a multiple-
channel digital baseband chip capable of supporting eight forward link channels and eight reverse link channels. Each
channel element performs CDMA searching, CDMA modulation, CDMA demodulation and Viterbi decoding, said
Qualcomm.

Available in a 128-pin Metric Quad Flat Pack package, the CSM2000 occupies only 18 percent of the
area usually occupied by eight CSM1.5 chips-one of Qualcomm’s previous CSM devices. This allows for significant
reduction in circuit board space, said the company.
