GREENSBORO, N.C.-Vanguard Cellular Systems Inc. reported revenues for the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31 of $102.3 million compared with revenues of $98.7 million for the same time the previous year. The company’s revenues for 1998 were $421.7 million, an increase from the $374.5 million reported for 1997.
Net losses for the quarter totaled $58.6 million, or $1.59 per share, compared with a net loss of $11.4 million, or 29 cents per share, for fourth quarter 1997. The company experienced a net gain of $74.2 million, or $2 per share, in 1998, and a net loss of $10 million, or 25 cents per share, in 1997.
