ARCH REVENUES DOWN SLIGHTLY

WESTBOROUGH, Mass.-Arch Communications Group Inc. reported revenues for the first quarter ended March 31 of $94 million, only a slight decrease from the $94.7 million reported for first-quarter 1998.

Arch experienced net losses of $49.6 million, or $2.34 per common share, compared with a net loss of $45.8 million, or $2.20 per common share, for the same time the previous year.

Arch Chairman and Chief Executive Officer C. Edward Baker Jr. said the company “gained court confirmation of MobileMedia’s plan to merge with Arch, met targeted cost savings from our ongoing restructuring which began nearly a year ago, and, most recently, reached a strategic agreement with PageMart Wireless Inc. to begin providing advanced messaging services to our customer base over the NPCS network,” during the quarter.

The Arch/MobileMedia merger will make Arch the second-largest paging and wireless company in the United States.
