CLEARNET 1Q REVENUES UP

SCARBOROUGH, Ontario-Clearnet Communications Inc. reported revenues for the first quarter ended March 31 of $47 million, an increase from the $27.4 million reported for first-quarter 1998.

Net losses for the quarter totaled $86.4 million, or $1.59 per share, compared with net losses of $89.6 million, or $2.07 per share, for the same time the previous year.

Clearnet introduced Say When, its prepaid calling service that offers the same per-minute airtime pricing as its postpaid plans. Features of the plan include airtime charges no more than 20 cents per minute, voice mail, caller ID and call waiting at no extra charge, as well as free unlimited local birthday calling.

Say When is available on any Clearnet rate plan for an additional $5 per month, said the company.
