ICO Global Communications Ltd. said it has commenced a rights offering that will permit shareholders to purchase up to approximately 207.6 million ordinary shares of ICO at $5 per share. Shareholders of record on June 3 will be granted one nontransferable right for each ordinary share owned. Each right entitles the holder to purchase one ordinary share and to subscribe for additional ordinary shares at the subscription price. Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Securities Corp. will coordinate the distribution of the rights, said ICO.

Research In Motion Ltd. announced the PocketGenie Internet content filter solution from WolfeTech Corp. will be available to BlackBerry wireless e-mail subscribers. The company also announced it added GoAmerica Communications Corp.’s Go.Web portal service. BlackBerry uses the RIM 950 pager to wirelessly link users to its Microsoft Exchange-based e-mail and personal information management programs. The company said the addition of Web content from PocketGenie and Go.Web with the wireless e-mail delivers a complete wireless portal for Microsoft Exchange.

Motorola Inc. announced at Sapphire ’99 it has plans to link its PageWriter 2000 two-way pager to the www.SAP.com Internet portal to make available Internet business scenarios and information services. SAP is a large enterprise software company specializing in business solutions and enterprise information exchange. SAP products and services integrate organizations’ financial and human resources functions with manufacturing and sales and distribution.
OMAN
L.M. Ericsson signed a $33 million contract with the General Telecommunications Organization to expand and upgrade the existing Global System for Mobile communications 900 network in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. Under terms of the contract, Ericsson plans to deliver its mobile services switching center, base station controller and radio base stations. The network capacity will increase to 127,000 subscribers by the end of 2000, said Ericsson.
