REDMOND, Wash.-Microsoft Corp. announced it plans to work with Korea Telecom Freetel to develop a standards-based Internet and corporate service platform based on Microsoft products, such as Windows NT, Commercial Internet System and Exchange.
Korea Telecom Freetel operates a nationwide personal communications services network with some 3.5 million subscribers. The companies said they also will discuss using Microsoft’s microbrowser and future Windows CE operating system technology in the carrier’s handsets to access corporate data on a mobile basis. Other plans include making available a customized, co-branded wireless portal based on mobile data service offerings from Microsoft’s MSN Internet network.
