FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.-Seven Seas Communications, a service provider for Iridium North America, announced it will lower its airtime rates for Iridium service, effective immediately.
The new pricing plan offers access fees as low as $19 a month and airtime from $1.59 to $4.29 per minute, down from access fees of $69 a month and airtime priced at $2 to $7 a minute.
Cost of service has been a key criticism of the struggling Iridium, which has experienced difficulty attracting the number of subscribers needed to stay in business. Lowering its wholesale prices is one aspect of Iridium’s restructuring process designed to meet its challenges.
