PHOENIX-Phoenix-based AG Communications Systems, a Lucent Technologies Inc. subsidiary, announced the general availability of its ROAMEO Time Division Multiple Access wireless office telephone system. The company said U.S. Cellular Corp., Chicago, will market AG’s ROAMEO wireless office system to customers in all of the carrier’s 145 markets.
ROAMEO is an adjunct to existing private branch exchange, Centrex or key systems that allows a standard TDMA mobile wireless handset to act as a cordless extension of a subscriber’s desk phone.
The AG system allows users anywhere within a building or campus environment to make and receive calls and use all features of their office phones, like call transfer, forwarding, waiting and conferencing. Calls within range of ROAMEO incur no per-minute airtime charges.
Under the agreement, AG will provide turnkey sales, installation and maintenance support for U.S. Cellular’s subscribers. U.S. Cellular will serve as the single point of customer contact.
AG Communications also announced the deployment of its wireless prepaid service software solution, INgage WPS, throughout Clearnet Communications Inc.’s digital wireless personal communications services network in Canada.
AG Communications’ INgage WPS offers features such as a rating engine that allows for local calling minutes to be deposited automatically into client accounts each month, and the capacity to purchase extra airtime over the phone without the need to purchase extra prepaid cards, said the company.
