QUALCOMM SMART PHONE USED FOR FINANCIAL SOLUTIONS

SAN DIEGO-Qualcomm Inc.’s Code Division Multiple Access digital pdQ smart phone can offer the Palm Computing platform and support full-time access to the Internet, said the company.

724 Solutions Inc. chose the pdQ smart phone as one of the key platforms for its new wireless financial services solution, now in market trial by the Bank of Montreal and Bell Mobility. 724 Solutions created its own version of software for the pdQ smart phone, which enables secure delivery of banking and brokerage services, using the pdQ software developer’s kit from Qualcomm.

Qualcomm said users can input data into the pdQ smart phone three ways-through Palm Computing’s Graffiti power writing software, the on-screen keyboard or through a personal computer connected to the phone with the included HotSync technology.

The pdQ smart phone ships with a charging cradle, lithium ion battery and a headset that enables users to talk on the phone while simultaneously using the personal digital assistant portion of the unit, said Qualcomm.
