WASHINGTON-The 220 MHz auction ended with the Federal Communications Commission collecting nearly $2 million for 222 licenses expected to be used for dispatch and paging services.
Among the top winners are Intek License Acquisition Corp. (51 licenses/$728,800); Warren C. Havens (72 licenses/$165,230); and the 220 MHz Auction Group (26 licenses/$351,975).
Only three of the 225 licenses put on the auction block were not sold. The auction began on June 8 and closed after 71 bidding rounds.
“These results can only lead to more competition, which will mean good things for American consumers,” said Thomas Sugrue, chief of the FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau.
