NEW YORK-WinStar Communications Inc. announced its Wireless Fiber service will be made commercially available in buildings owned by Boston Properties Inc.
Under terms of the agreement, WinStar will offer its high-speed broadband service capabilities to the 106 buildings in the Boston Properties portfolio, including the Embarcadero Center in San Francisco and the Prudential Center in Boston. Boston Properties owns additional properties in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Baltimore, Md.
The company also said that in the second quarter, it obtained access rights to more than 700 commercial office buildings, setting a new company record for the quarter.
“We expect to acquire access rights to 8,000 buildings by year-end,” said William J. Rouhana Jr., WinStar’s chairman and chief executive officer.
