TELEMETRIX TO BUILD PCS NETWORK THROUGH MICROCELL

TORONTO-Microcell Connexions Inc. and Telemetrix Inc. signed a letter of intent to conclude an agreement that will bring personal communications services based on the Global System for Mobile communications standard to Manitoba and Saskatchewan, said the companies.

Under the proposed agreement, Telemetrix will build a PCS network to Microcell Connexions’ specifications in Manitoba and Saskatchewan and operate it on Microcell’s behalf. Microcell Connexions will continue to hold the PCS license from Industry Canada for the Telemetrix network.

Telemetrix Inc. said it will provide enabling technologies that use the PCS network infrastructure, making it possible to offer new services such as wireless local loop, automatic utility meter reading, home security monitoring and traffic light sequencing.
