CHICAGO-Ameritech Corp. reported 8-percent subscriber growth during the second quarter to reach a total of 3.7 million customers.
The company’s second-quarter earnings grew 20.9 percent to $840 million, or 76 cents per share, from $695 million, or 63 cents per share, during last year’s second quarter. Revenues totaled $4.8 billion, up 12 percent from revenues of $4.29 billion during the second quarter of 1998.
The company is in the process of being acquired by SBC Communications Inc.
