DIVERSINET JOINS WAP FORUM

TORONTO-Diversinet Corp. has joined the Wireless Application Protocol Forum, a move expected to bring added encryption security standards to the wireless data transmission technology.

Diversinet said it plans to work closely with the WAP Forum’s Security Group to develop open security standards based on public key infrastructure technology.

In other WAP news, L.M. Ericsson said it launched a joint project with Reuters to deliver financial market news and data to WAP-enabled mobile phones. The project initially will involve 1,000 users in the financial services sector in London, Frankfurt and other European financial centers, the company said.
