ALEXANDRIA, Va.-Rural Cellular Corp. reported revenues for the second quarter ended June 30 of $38.2 million, more than double the $17.7 million in revenues RCC reported for second-quarter 1998.
RCC experienced a net loss of $2.6 million, or 29 cents per share, compared with a net loss of $2.7 million, or 30 cents per share, for the same period the previous year.
As of June 30, the company’s total wireless customers increased 92 percent from 122,000 to 233,000. Of this total, RCC had 209,000 cellular customers, up 128 percent from 92,000 reported for the same period last year. The increase primarily results from the acquisition of RCC Atlantic and continued strong growth in the Minnesota and Maine markets, said RCC.
