SCHAUMBURG, Ill.-Motorola Inc. unveiled its i500plus multiservice wireless phone. The integrated Digital Enhanced Network handset is a Wireless Application Protocol-compliant phone that features an Internet microbrowser, two-way e-mail and wireless modem functionality.
The i500plus phone will enable users to access Internet-based information such as news, stock quotes, phone-number searches, weather updates, airline information and a scheduling calendar, said Motorola.
Southern LINC, the integrated digital wireless communications service from Southern Co., and Nextel Communications Inc. both now offer the i500plus and the i1000plus handsets. Southern LINC said it will offer a suite of wireless data and Internet services in the fourth quarter.
