DALLAS-Omnipoint Communications Inc. announced it placed an order with Nortel Networks for additional wireless equipment and services valued in excess of $100 million, to expand its digital personal communications services network in New York.
Omnipoint said it intends to deploy Nortel Networks’ Global System for Mobile communications 1900 base stations and DMS-MSC SuperNode switches during the next year. Omnipoint also plans to deploy Nortel’s General Packet Radio Service solution.
