SAO PAULO, Brazil-Lucent Technologies Inc. said it signed a $59 million contract with Telesp Celular to expand the company’s wireless network based on Code Division Multiple Access technology, in the cities of Santos and Guaruja, in the state of Sao Paulo.
Under terms of the contract, Lucent announced it is planning to provide three mobile switching centers using the 5ESS switching platform, and more than 100 Autoplex System 1000 Series II cell sites, as well as support services to the Brazilian carrier.
