PISCATAWAY, N.J.-With a $120,000 grant from Lucent Technologies Inc., the Wireless Information Networks Laboratory of Rutgers University, Piscataway, N.J., has established the Lucent Technologies Wireless Postdoctoral Fellowship.
“Our sponsorship (of WINLAB) over the past decade has proved to be a good investment, yet we believe we can help Rutgers increase the scope of research and expand the pool of available talent,” said George Zysman, vice president and chief technical officer of Lucent’s Wireless Networks Group, Murray Hill, N.J.
“Through this fellowship, we hope WINLAB will attract the most promising candidates, promote future research and help address the shortage of trained and highly qualified career professionals.”
The search is under way for the first candidate for the initial two-year Lucent Technologies Fellowship.
WINLAB also said it is working to develop and expand the sponsored fellowship concept to include other currently participating companies and to include students at all graduate levels.
