WIRELESS FACILITIES TO GO PUBLIC

SAN DIEGO-Wireless Facilities Inc., a San Diego company that helps carriers plan, design and deploy wireless telecommunications networks, registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission Aug. 18 to raise up to $70 million in an initial public offering.

The company has applied for a Nasdaq listing of its planned shares.

Wireless Facilities, which earned $2.8 million in net income during the first half of this fiscal year, said it has undertaken projects for companies that include Siemens AG, Lucent Technologies Inc. and personal communications services affiliates of AT&T Wireless Services Inc.

Proceeds of the stock sale will help repay short-term debt, pay for possible acquisitions and fund other general corporate purposes.
