AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands-Detron Group N.V. established a joint venture with Crown Castle International. Crown Castle initially will invest $10 million in the venture, and Detron’s Sites & Towers affiliate will be part of the venture through a minority stake. Lehman Brothers, a global investment bank, is also a shareholder.
Sites & Towers was formed earlier this year to introduce site sharing by mobile operators through an independent company. However, clients asked for greater independence from other Detron activities, according to a Detron statement. The venture initially will target mobile telephony and paging operators and broadcasting organizations in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
