SYMMETRICOM TO ACQUIRE HP SYNCHRONIZATION BUSINESS

SAN JOSE, Calif.-Symmetricom Inc. and Hewlett-Packard Co. signed an agreement under which Symmetricom will acquire HP’s Communications Synchronization business, said the companies.

The business, part of HP’s Santa Clara, Calif., division, designs and manufactures network synchronization and timing equipment for global wireline and wireless telecommunications networks.

Symmetricom said it will purchase from HP certain assets, operations and the business related to the design, manufacture and marketing of network synchronization and timing equipment for global communications networks. Symmetricom also will offer employment to many of the Communications Synchronization business employees. The transaction is scheduled to close at the end of the month.
