CHAPEL HILL, N.C.-ReadyCom Inc. said it introduced its two-way, advanced voice messaging technology with cellular carriers in Puerto Rico and Chile, and confirmed the technology is meeting unserved needs in the marketplaces.

“Early indications are that business customers are indeed looking for advanced messaging features, including one-way and two-way voice messaging and group `dispatch voice messaging,’ ” said Kieran Kelly, market manager for ReadyCom in Puerto Rico.

GTE International’s Celulares Telefonica wireless subsidiary formally launched the product in Puerto Rico under the MoviVoz brand name in late July, and in Chile under the MoviVox name.

“We had originally positioned our product as `portable two-way voice mail,’ but that has little meaning in these countries because voice mail is not well penetrated. Customers are telling us that we offer a low-cost, premium wireless messaging service that has real value for those who need to keep in touch with people in the field,” said John Voorhees, ReadyCom’s director of marketing.
