GENEVA-The European Telecommunications Standards Institute and the Wireless Application Protocol Forum signed a cooperation agreement designed to drive interoperability of standards for wireless mobile Internet, according to the WAP Forum.
The organization said this new agreement underlines the importance of collaboration between standardization groups to create protocol specifications that will work across different wireless network technologies, including Global System for Mobile communications and Universal Mobile Telecommunications Services.
“Our cooperative agreement with ETSI is key to making WAP the de-facto worldwide standard for the mobile Internet,” said Gregory Williams, WAP Forum board chairman.
