NEXTWAVE INTRODUCES IBRIDGE HIGH-SPEED INTERNET ACCESS

HAWTHORNE, N.Y.-NextWave Telecom Inc. announced its entry into the high-speed wireless Internet market with its introduction of iBridge, a service designed specifically to provide affordable high-speed Internet access as an alternative to local telephone service.

NextWave said it plans to introduce iBridge service commercially in San Diego within the next two to three months. The company plans to introduce the service to more than 40 markets in 2000.

NextWave and Airspan Communications have entered into a supply agreement calling for Airspan to deploy its AS4000 wireless access system and customer premise equipment.

C-block personal communications services company NextWave today is entangled in bankruptcy proceedings and is awaiting confirmation of its reorganization plan. The Federal Communications Commission is contesting the New York U.S. bankruptcy court’s jurisdiction over the commission in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Oral arguments in the case are set for Nov. 1.
