OWNINGS MILLS, Md.-Aether Systems Inc. unveiled a new initiative to develop and host business Internet applications using the Wireless Application Protocol, called the WAP Enterprise Center.
Aether said the service will be a central part of its newly expanded network operations and customer-care facility. Essentially, the center allows content providers and corporate enterprises to make WAP applications available without needing to buy an enterprise WAP server and host such applications themselves.
Aether also reported a third-quarter net loss of $2.8 million, or 14 cents a share, in its first earnings release since going public last month. Revenues were $1.5 million.
