LONDON-ICL, a United Kingdom-based wholly owned subsidiary of Fujitsu Corp., announced a $161.7 million electronic business expansion initiative, including a focus on wireless services. ICL will market and distribute Nokia Corp. Wireless Application Protocol server products as part of the eBusiness e-services it provides to its customers.
ICL, an information technology services company, is building a wireless center of excellence in Helsinki, Finland, to develop and support new wireless solutions and services. The company said it is integrating WAP, Bluetooth and wireless local area network technologies into all its eBusiness solutions.
The company also contracted with Leonia Bank, Finland’s second-largest commercial bank, to provide WAP applications. The bank’s customers will be able to access balance, bill payment and loan information online using mobile phones.
The expansion includes 4,400 new jobs in Europe and the United States.
