MORRISVILLE, N.C.-Tekelec announced Alcatel has selected its General Packet Radio Services testing solution, which is based on a new next-generation diagnostics platform, MGTS i3000.
GPRS technology will give Global System for Mobile communications networks high-speed packet data capability without requiring service providers to completely upgrade their existing networks. The new networks will have an interface that will collect voice and data calls, routing them either through the GPRS network or the traditional voice circuit-switched network. Tekelec’s product will test the reliability, bandwidth, performance, dropped data, and load and conformance of the interface.
“The beauty of the architecture we have is that we can adapt to any proprietary interface,” said Dan Bantukul, senior manager of product marketing in Tekelec’s Intelligent Network Diagnostics division.
“MGTS i3000 will allow Alcatel to extend its testing capabilities to address emerging 3G mobile technologies,” said Danny Parker, vice president and general manager of Tekelec’s Intelligent Network Diagnostics division. “MGTS i3000 also is compatible with the classic MGTS system. Therefore, Alcatel is able to leverage its investment in the test capabilities developed around its existing MGTS test bed.”
