LONDON-The U.K. government said France Telecom must fully divest its holdings in Crown Castle before proceeding with its planned investment in NTL, a cable company. Crown Castle International Corp., based in Houston, provides infrastructure and network support services to the wireless communications and radio and TV broadcasting industries in the United States and the United Kingdom.
“Now that the U.K. secretary of state has made this decision, the company will begin investigating any undertakings and its potential implications for Crown Castle,” Crown Castle said in a statement.
France Telecom must divest its holdings in Crown Castle UK Holdings Ltd., Crown Castle UK Ltd. and Crown Castle International.
France Telecom agreed earlier this year to take a 25-percent stake in NTL.
