SAN JOSE, Calif. – Digital Microwave Corp. announced it has received $5 million in orders from two companies in the Peoples’ Republic of China. The orders, $3.5 million from China Unicom for the company’s Altium and Spectrum II radios and $1.5 million from Hebei Great Wall Mobile Telecommunications Co. for Spectrum II radios, are scheduled to ship by the end of December.
“Both China Unicom and Hebei Great Wall Mobile Telecommunications are long-term customers since we began business development in China in 1995,” Charles D Kissner, chairman and chef executive office of Digital Microwave, said. “Each of these contracts, however, represents new business in new areas and in developing technologies in China. We especially are pleased that our expanding product line is being used to expand China’s communications network.”
The order from China Unicom will be used to expand the Global System for Mobile communications cellular network in the Guangxi and Hainan provinces located near the South China Sea. The Hebei order will be deployed in a Code Division Multiple Access cellular system located in northern China.
The orders were won in partnership with the Beijing Telecom Equipment Factory, a manufacturer of telecommunications products and the official representative of Digital Microwave within China.
