RCR promotes several in editorial staff

RCR announced several promotions and new hires to its editorial staff, effective Jan. 3.

Reporter Lynnette Luna has been promoted to Denver bureau chief. She will continue her responsibilities as a reporter, as well as take on more news-gathering duties. “This promotion recognizes the contributions Lynnette has made to RCR. She’s done a stand-up job explaining the intricacies of third-generation technology to our readers through a series of 3G stories, as well as writing a number of award-winning stories on the PCS industry,” said RCR Editor Tracy Ford.

Reporter Kristen Beckman has been promoted to copy editor. Hilary Smith, formerly the editorial assistant, will take over Beckman’s reporting position, which covers the cellular, tower and broadband wireless industries.

Dan Meyer has been hired to replace Smith as editorial assistant. He had worked for The Boulder Daily Camera in Boulder, Colo., and also wrote articles for Inside Hockey magazine. Meyer has a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communications from the University of Colorado.

RCR also hired Stacey Skillern-Horne as its new graphics editor. She will oversee the graphic content of the newspaper and manage RCR’s Web site. Skillern-Horne previously was the editor of Denver-based Radio Resource Magazine, a trade publication covering the two-way radio industry. She replaces Kelly Pate, who resigned to take a position with The Denver Post.

Global Wireless, RCR’s sister publication, announced its managing editor, Sandi Wendelken, was promoted to editor. She replaces Dianne Hammer, who left the publication to pursue personal interests.
