Lucent not attending PCS show is non-event

Dear Editor:

The PCS slamming was rather tacky when it appeared on the cover of RCR and then has become quite old in issue after issue, but accepted by your readers as negative selling, which in a capitalist society we must all endure. Thankfully some (excluding the RCR staff) are better at concealing it than others.

In no way shape or form does your negative pitch against the competing PCS show belong in the Top 20 News Events of 1999. It should have never been a “news event” to begin with, but when I read it in the Top 20 I almost choked.

With the boom of wireless and the onslaught of wireless data and emerging networks is the fact that a vendor at a competitive show will not attend a show worthy of a headline? I think not. As we move into this great new millennium, I would hope you rethink your editorial concepts and move into the vast sea of positivity that awaits positive, intelligent human beings that work and profit together. This is cutting-edge technology where we’ve learned that we all need each other and can prosper. This is not Detroit in 1972, where they scrambled to cut each other’s heads off and in turn each lost their very own. This is just my view, but I am sure many other readers would share this opinion.
