Wireless Outlet brings prepaid to campuses

CLEVELAND-Wireless Communications Inc.’s prepaid cellular service provider, Wireless Outlet, is moving its cellular plan to the college campus.

Wireless Outlet announced a plan to sell its services to schools in the San Francisco Bay area and is providing MRG Communications Inc., of San Francisco, the analog minutes to cover more than 100 schools in the Bay Area. Students will be able to buy new plans on campuses, renew their minutes online or call a toll-free number to replenish their plans.

“Within a 75-mile radius there are over 100 colleges, universities and vocational schools that now offer our prepaid cellular services to student bodies,” said Ron Hodge, agent for MRG.

“This has been an untapped market and we have found that students have a real need we are able to fill,” added Peter Kusner, president of Wireless Outlet.

Kusner also noted that the program has been so successful that the company plans to roll out service in the San Diego and Los Angeles markets by the end of January.
