ARLINGTON, Va.-AT&T Corp. affiliate TeleCorp PCS, which recently announced plans to acquire another AT&T affiliate Tritel Corp., and AT&T will acquire Wisconsin personal communications services operator Industar Digital PCS.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Industar was trying to build a Time Division Multiple Access-based network to primarily serve in-building customers. It already had an affiliate-type of arrangement with AT&T to roam on the carrier’s network.
Industar’s founder Kailas Rao will become chairman of the new market. The closing of the deal is expected in the second half and is subject to regulatory approval.
