BEAUMONT, Texas-US Unwired, a Sprint PCS service provider, awarded a customized Volkswagen New Beetle to Levy Guidry of Houma, La., during a giveaway and media event at the company’s Beaumont, Texas, retail outlet.

The giveaway was the culmination of an 11-city tour by US Unwired. At each of the retail outlets visited, the company drew finalists to participate in the tour-ending giveaway.

“We wanted to do something fun to start the year 2000,” said Jack Blanchard, vice president of marketing for US Unwired. “It was a creative way to promote our prepaid phone product and it’s been a fun ride for us. We think it’ll be a fun ride for Mr. Guidry, too.”
