MANKATO, Minn.-Midwest Wireless will begin offering two-way messaging to its digital service subscribers after successful trials with Lava2140, a communications software developer.
The service will allow customers to not only receive e-mail messages on their wireless phones, but also send e-mail messages. The company said the technology is currently being used in only a few select markets in Europe.
“We were extremely excited last year when we were first able to offer our subscribers one-way `e-mail to the phone’ capabilities,” said Dennis Miller, president of Midwest. “But this service, developed through our cooperative efforts with Lava2140, will give our subscribers the power to also send e-mails and request information using only their wireless phone.”
Midwest will begin marketing the service this month under the “MAIL.IT” brand name using Nokia 5120i and 6120i wireless phones.
