Teltronics Inc. announced its subsidiary, Interactive Solutions Inc., developed a new product offering, the MentisSoft iCommunicator system, which makes verbal communications possible between the hearing world and a hearing-impaired or profoundly deaf person. Illinois Superconductor Corp. introduced a superconducting filter product for digital wireless networks that the company said is the smallest in the industry. The ATP Classic occupies one cubic foot in volume and employs Stirling engine cryogenic technology. ISC noted the new filter is designed to meet the needs of current second-generation digital systems for superior interference rejection, to increase capacity and improve call quality. In the event of a loss of electrical power, the system retains 80 percent of the supercooled low noise amplifier gain at room temperature, and eliminates the added loss of up to 1.5 decibels from mechanical bypass and relay networks required to back up thin-film superconducting filter products. RF Micro Devices
RF Micro Devices Inc., a proprietary radio-frequency integrated circuits provider for wireless communications applications, introduced two silicon-based low noise amplifiers designed for general-purpose amplification. The RF2371 operates from a 2.7V-3.6V single power supply and operates in the 700 MHz to 2000 MHz range, according to the company. The amplifier also features a proportional to absolute temperature biasing scheme using bandgap cells. The RF2375 is designed for DCS 1800 handsets. Com-Net Ericsson Critical Radio Systems Inc. introduced the EDACS 300P to the company’s Enhanced Digital Access Communications Systems product line. The new portable radio is “network ready” with the ability to roam between EDACS sites. The radio also features an emergency button, located on top of the radio, for the highest priority transmission. Com-Net also introduced the Panther 300P portable and Panther 300M mobile radios. The 300P is designed to provide two-way radio dealers with a cost-efficient portable for business and industrial customers who want the convenience of a two-way radio at an affordable cost. The 300M includes a 40-watt power output with an optional external speaker that produces 10 watts of audio for noisy environments. Com-Net also announced a joint venture with Catalyst Communications Technologies Inc. to market Network Access Radio, a new product that provides two-way radio communications over a local area network or wide area network.
