Wireless, GPS increase value of antenna market

OYSTER BAY, N.Y.-The continued growth of wireless users worldwide and the increasing integration of global positioning system applications into everyday life are expected to raise the value of the antenna market over the next five years, according to an Allied Business Intelligence report, “Antennas 2000, Global Technologies and Strategies for Cellular/PCS, GPS and Smart Base Station Antennas.”

The report shows that shipments for smart antenna base stations will rise at a compound average annual growth rate of 44 percent from 2000 to 2005. The report also predicts that in-vehicle navigation systems will account for 27 percent of total worldwide GPS antenna shipment for this year, the highest percentage of any category.
