BOTHELL, Wash.-Aether Systems Inc. and Data Critical Corp., which provides wireless communications to the health-care industry, signed an agreement to enter an alliance for technology integration and development, strategic marketing programs and an equity investment by Aether in Data Critical.
The equity investment includes an initial $10 million purchase of Data Critical stock at $8.13 per share, the closing price on June 1, with an option for up to an additional $10 million investment.
“This agreement will enable us to fulfill one of our key strategic objectives of expanding our services into the health-care market,” said David Oros, chairman and chief executive officer of Aether.
The agreement also calls for Data Critical to be a preferred health-care solutions partner for Aether, offering Aether access to its portfolio of wireless and medical products.
In addition, Aether will be the exclusive wireless service provider for Data Critical in the United States, providing wireless network services, devices and customer support.
