TORONTO-Microcell Connexions, a subsidiary of Microcell Telecommunications Inc., and Ernst & Young reported the deployment and real-world trial of Microcell Wireless Office, a next-generation service enabling a company to incorporate Global System for Mobile communications equipment into its existing Internet Protocol-based Local Area Network.
Ernst & Young, a professional services organization, will be working with Microcell to deploy the wireless system on a trial basis in its Montreal offices. The trial is expected to last approximately three months.
Microcell noted that Ernst & Young users can take advantage of Private Branch eXchange-like features such as four-digit dialing and access to the company’s private voice network with the new service. In addition, Microcell Wireless Office will provide seamless roaming with the GSM handset between the in-office system, the Microcell Connexions GSM network and GSM networks around the world.
