Southwestern Bell to use Sema solutions

LONDON-Sema Group plc, a worldwide Internet technology and consulting company, recently announced that Southwestern Bell Mobile Systems, a subsidiary of SBC Communications Inc., has selected both Sema Group’s Short Message Service Center and Over-the-Air Activation and Programming solution.

Sema Group’s SMSC supports both Time Division Multiple Access and Code Division Multiple Access standards on the same Compaq Integrity XC Cluster platform, and is expandable to more than 1,000 message delivery attempts per second, Sema said.

The SMS solution will support mobile text messages that are sent between TDMA phone and Global System for Mobile communications phones, enabling text communications between SBC’s TDMA and GSM customers.
