Motorola GPRS facility coming

BERLIN-Motorola Inc. said its new Berlin-based center for developing General Packet Radio Service will be completed later this year and will accommodate around 40 packet data technology specialists.

The German facility will focus on interoperability testing, operator-specific network validation and overall advancement of Motorola’s GPRS solution, the company said.

Motorola also announced it entered a joint agreement with Sega Enterprises Ltd. to bring a range of entertainment software to Java technology-enabled wireless phones, pagers and personal digital assistants.

Sega has developed a suite of games for Java 2 Micro Edition-enabled Motorola devices. The J2ME platform is designed to allow developers to write applications that can run on any device equipped with J2ME.
