Tektronix
Tektronix Inc. launched a new Global System for Mobile communications cell analysis product, the Cell Analyzer, which combines the key functions of the Actix Abis Analyzer with Tektronix’s K1205 Signaling Protocol Analyzer. Available as an add-on software package for the K1205, the new analyzer enables field technicians to check and validate the radio performance of a base station, quickly identify and solve radio frequency problems, perform dropped call analysis and monitor cell statistics at the touch of a button. Tektronix also unveiled enhancements for its CMU200 Universal Radio Communications Tester, a multiformat test set for mobile phones, allowing telecommunications equipment manufacturers to complete production tests quickly, without sacrificing product quality. Tektronix noted that in addition to Global System for Mobile communications capabilities, the CMU200 offers IS-136 test capability in the cellular and personal communications service bands and American Mobile Phone System test features. Panasonic
Panasonic’s High-Power Series Sealed Lead Acid batteries provide up to 30 percent greater energy density than typical SLA batteries of similar size, according to the company. Panasonic noted that the batteries are ideal for standby power applications such as telecommunications and uninterruptible power supplies. Western Multiplex
Global provider of broadband wireless access systems Western Multiplex Corp. introduced its Tsunami 100BaseT wireless Ethernet bridge with a 100 Mbps, full-duplex data rate. According to the company, the unit includes the first license-exempt, fixed wireless Ethernet bridge providing 10BaseT and 100BaseT point-to-point connections at distances up to 50 miles. Also included in the Tsunami family are a license-exempt 10BaseT model and a licensed 100BaseT model. Zeus Wireless
Zeus Wireless Inc., a supplier of wireless data connectivity solutions, announced first customer shipments of new battery and input voltage options for frequency hopping transceivers in the license-free band at 2.4 GHz. The ZLRT2120 Internal Battery Transceiver can perform up to 1,000 transactions on a single charge and is fully recharged and ready for use again within 12 hours, Zeus said. The ZLRT2130 Wide Input Voltage Transceiver accepts input power between 6.5 volts and 32 volts from a variety of commercial and industrial equipment and is readily powered by devices that operate on battery or solar power. RF Industries
To achieve Federal Communications Commission Part 15.203 regulations requiring non-standard coaxial connector interface for appliance compliance, RF Industries is offering an extensive line of reverse polarity connectors and adapters. The line includes the RP-1005-C, N male crimp for RG-58-U; the RP-1210, TNC female 4-hole flange; the RP-1106-C, BNC male crimp for RG-58/U; the RP-3000-1C, SMA male crimp for RG-58/U; and the RP-3408-1, SMA Female to MMCX Plug adapter. The company noted that the compliant connectors cannot be mated with standard interface connectors. In addition, RF Industries’ wholly owned Neulink Division announced the addition of Waverider’s wireless NCL series Spread Spectrum 2.4 GHz IP Router and Bridge to Neulink’s wireless digital transmission product line-up. According to the company, the new systems provide up to 11 Mbps line-of-sight throughput, enabling the extension of an ethernet network and network-to-Internet connectivity from building to building without the expense of dedicated or leased phones lines. ADC Telecommunications
ADC Telecommunications Inc. introduced the Select Series fuse platform to its PowerWorx power distribution and protection line designed to power and protect network equipment in multiservice broadband networks. The platform features a patent-pending modular design enabling broadband service providers to combine TPA, KTK/KLM or GMT fuses within a single rack unit. The platform accepts input power up to 100 amps per bus with up to 50 amps output power per fuse position. ADC also announced availability of its IPXpert platform, designed to manage IP and ATM wide area data networks. The IPXpert platform enables alarm-triggered switching and scheduled switching, permitting the network administrator to proactively manage the physical layer, switching to redundant circuits and equipment when required. Both switching modes can be managed from the a desktop computer using software-based management tools. Telular Corp. introduced its digital Phonecell SX4e Time Division Multiple Access dual band/dual mode fixed wireless terminal. Telular said the terminal is designed for applications that require both 800 MHz and 1900 MHz digital TDMA frequencies, as well as the 800 MHz analog Advanced Mobile Phone Service frequency. Grayson Wireless
Grayson Wireless launched three wireless drive-test measurement products for carriers using Global System for Mobile communications and IS-136 air interfaces. The offerings, the GSM Surveyor and IS-136 Surveyor, are Windows-based tools designed for network verification, optimization and benchmarking. Grayson said the recorded data may include forward and reverse link conditions, such as signal strength, transmit power, bit or frame error rate, dropped calls, failed originations and other anomalous events, along with GPS location coordinates. Both systems feature real-time mapping, including display of cell sites and the serving cell, display in appropriate windows of an alphanumeric sector identifier from a Cellsite database, Layer 3 message display, a strip chart for plotting user selectable key parameters vs. time and a handoff history window. RF Micro Devices Inc. introduced the RF2642, a silicon-based 3V 900 MHz upconverter/power amp driver with bypass mode designed for Code Division Multiple Access applications.
