HELSINKI, Finland-Nokia Corp. was selected by four European mobile operators to provide General Packet Radio Service core network infrastructure solutions to their existing Global System for Mobile communications networks.
Nokia will integrate its GPRS solution into the existing GSM networks of France’s Cegetel, Germany’s E-Plus, the Netherlands KPN Mobile and Danish operator Tele Danmark.
The deployment of GPRS infrastructure will allow GSM operators to roll-out packet-based mobile Internet services to their subscribers.
Financial details of the contracts were not released.
