Wireless Knowledge L.L.C. introduced the latest version of its WorkStyle Server, version 3.0, which the company says completes its vision of allowing any device on any network to access a user’s corporate data on a mobile basis.
Release 3.0 adds support for Palm devices, Pocket PCs, Web TV and desktop/laptop kiosks, complementing the existing support for text-enabled phones and pagers and Internet-enabled smart phones.
“We really feel the 3.0 product today does now deliver ubiquitous access to corporate information,” said Randy Salo, vice president of strategic marketing at Wireless Knowledge. “Everyone has their own, almost religious, preference for devices, and this really allows them to use any device they prefer to access their information.”
Of course the corporate enterprise must first buy the server and integrate it behind the firewall. Wireless Knowledge said it has 30 deployments to date, of which one-third are Fortune 1000 companies.
An outsourcing solution will be available soon, the company said.
The new WorkStyle Server also includes a feature for customizable notification, which users can configure to alert them of a new incoming e-mail message or a change to a contact entry in their database. Other custom features include start-up screens, security, local time, e-mail settings and contact lists.
The server is available directly from Wireless Knowledge, or through AT&T Wireless, Microsoft Exchange value-added resellers and Paradigm4. Wireless Knowledge is the joint venture formed between Microsoft Corp. and Qualcomm Inc.
