PHOENIX-Motorola Inc.’s Semiconductor Products Sector and Atmel Corp. have agreed to provide a reliable supply of radio-frequency Bipolar Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor technology for wireless applications.
The licensing agreement calls for Motorola to share its BiCMOS technology with Atmel, enabling Atmel to provide wireless original equipment manufacturers with products designed in a process that is fully mask-compatible with Motorola’s 0.35 um RF BiCMOS technology. Motorola said the results will help meet demand for high-integration RF integrated circuits for low-voltage portable wireless applications.
Motorola said its decision to license this generation of BiCMOS technology was based on Atmel’s history of manufacturing and its record of prior service to Motorola’s customers.
