LOS ANGELES-AT&T Wireless Services Inc. kicked off its Safe School Program in Orange County, Calif., by donating wireless phones, airtime and school supplies to Edison Elementary School in Santa Ana, Calif., as part of a partnership with the Orange County Rescue Mission’s Backpack Program.
The Safe School Program, initiated by AT&T Wireless and Ericsson Mobile Phones in November 1997, has placed more than 4,000 wireless phones in more than 1,800 schools across the country, providing a communications resource to school administration, staff and security.
AT&T Wireless recently teamed up with the Democratic National Committee to donate more than 100 wireless phones with free airtime to elementary and middle schools within the Los Angeles Unified School District.
