Telular introduces multifrequency fixed wireless terminal

VERNON HILLS, Ill.-Telular Corp. introduced its digital Phonecell SX4e TDMA Dual-Band/Dual-Mode Fixed Wireless Terminal for applications that require both 800 MHz and 1900 MHz digital TDMA frequencies, as well as the 800 MHz analog AMPS frequency.

In addition to its multifrequency capability, Telular said the terminal features digital voice and fax/data functionality and supports call waiting, call forwarding, three-way calling and caller ID. Over-the-air activation is also included allowing a cellular carrier to distribute the SX4e TDMA through its handset distribution channels.

“This product was designed specifically for applications in the U.S. market where multifrequency capability is a requirement,” said Ken Millard, president and chief executive officer of Telular. “Customers in a variety of markets want to combine the access capability of our FWTs with inexpensive wireless rates such as those offered by nationwide PCS plans.”

Millard said the product will be available for shipment by the first quarter of 2001.
