Tri-County Communications Systems sold an unspecified number of its telecommunications towers in northern New York state to Pinnacle Holdings Inc., said David Abraham & Co., which represented the seller. Details of the transaction were not released by Tri-County or Pinnacle. David Abraham specializes in media and telecommunications finance.
Crown Castle, a communication site and wireless network service provider, opened a new satellite office in Tampa, Fla., located in The Thompson Center at 6306 Benjamin Rd., Suite 604. The site has about 20 staff members who will be involved in build-to-suit projects for GTE/Alltel and BellSouth Mobility, said the company. They will also be pursuing sites and collocating carriers on the company’s inventory of existing towers.
Black & Veatch Telecommunications Inc. and Albert and Gary Grimes formed a new company, Resource Tower Co., which will provide services to wireless tower site owners in the United States. The services will include site acquisition, zoning, engineering, inspection and construction. The new company will draw on the personnel of Black & Veatch and subcontracted partners. Black & Veatch provides development, deployment and operational support to telecommunications service providers.
American Tower Corp. selected Telephia Inc.’s Map-Q product line to help the company identify and fill network coverage holes for its wireless carrier customers. Telephia, which offers approaches to collecting marketing and network quality data, said Map-Q performs network analysis and mapping to allow tower companies to identify towers that fall in an uncovered area.
Egypt’s Misrfone Telecommunications Company S.A.E., which offers service under the name Click GSM, chose LCC International Inc., a wireless voice and data consulting service, to provide operation and maintenance services for about 275 sites in its Cairo network. LCC will perform preventative site maintenance, site corrective maintenance, antenna services and audit visits.
