NASHUA, N.H.-Spike Broadband Systems said it won two contracts in Trinidad and Tobago.
Borde Communications will use Spike’s fixed-wireless broadband technology to provide a broadband infrastructure network to Trinidad and Tobago’s Ministry of National Security. The network will enable emergency communications and response, distance learning, video conferences, training and other high-speed data applications, Spike said.
In addition, Signetix will use Spike technology to create a broadband network using microwave multipoint distribution system frequencies also for the Ministry of National Security. The network will link governmental agencies, along with major academic and government institutions serving the country’s 1.3 million people.
“Trinidad and Tobago has a clear need for a communications infrastructure to mitigate damage and increase critical responses during nationwide emergencies and natural disasters, as well as a need for nationwide broadband infrastructure to facilitate the high-speed, data-intensive requirements of modern-day government function,” said Ken Hinkson, chief executive officer of Borde Communications.
Spike’s technology is used in a similar emergency communications network in Merida, Venezuela, the company said.
